Job Description
Our international client is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Materials and Logistics Manager to join their dynamic Project Team. Reporting to the Construction Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with a multinational team of experienced expatriates and motivated local personnel. The role is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of material movement for the assigned project, ensuring alignment with the project schedule and delivery requirements.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and ensure the quality of output of the Materials team, maintaining a high standard in accordance with Company, Client, regulatory, and contractual requirements.

Oversee work procedures, practices, and plans related to the movement of materials, ensuring all deliverables are completed with a high level of accuracy.

Ensure all interactions with Clients, Vendors, and other external stakeholders are conducted professionally and in line with the ethos and values of the business.

Supervise and monitor the Materials teams output to ensure consistent compliance with Company, Client, regulatory, and contractual standards.

Manage all members of the Materials team in accordance with applicable project-specific requirements and current industry codes and standards, ensuring effective contract delivery.

Liaise closely with Vendors and the project transport and logistics service providers to plan and coordinate transportation and shipping activities efficiently.

Expedite Vendors to ensure the timely receipt of all deliverables, including complete shipping documentation, equipment, and materials that are correctly packed for transportation in line with project specifications.
Minimum Requirements

Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline (mandatory).

Certifications related to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Management.

Minimum of 7 years proven experience in materials management and logistics coordination on construction or mineral processing projects, preferably in remote or developing regions (e.g. Africa).

Extensive experience in materials management for mineral processing plants or infrastructure construction projects, with a demonstrated ability to coordinate complex logistics in remote and challenging environments, particularly in Africa.

Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP or equivalent).

Proven leadership and team management capability, with experience guiding, mentoring, and collaborating with multinational teams of expatriate and local personnel to achieve high performance standards.

Strong understanding of international logistics, including Incoterms, customs regulations, freight forwarding, and vendor expediting, to ensure compliant and timely material delivery.

Comprehensive knowledge of QA/QC procedures related to material handling, storage, packaging, and transportation, ensuring compliance with project specifications, client requirements, and applicable standards.
