Essential Duties:

Core focus is to be the dedicated graphic designer for the product development department. With a special focus on packaging and the layout and positioning of patterns and images on homeware items

Key functions:

• Liaise with Art dept, and product developers and replenishment team as to what is being developed and on order and what needs packaging to be designed or updated. Designing as to brief from art dept. Submit reverts to team timeously. Ensure sign off is obtained from relevant manager in line with deadlines.
• Ensure correct artwork sent to factories for production
• Manage and maintain artwork library of packaging files and designs
• Ability to illustrate or modify illustrations.
• Good eye for composition and placement, as a big part of the job will be the creation of decal placements on homeware items.
• Need to be able to brief and co-ord photography if it’s required for the packaging
• Must be competent in Illustrator, photo shop and InDesign – procreate a plus
• Knowledge of correct set up principals, repo and printing process a big bonus
• Understanding of die lines and box creation is beneficial.

Qualification and Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2-3 years of packaging design experience
• Understanding of packaging design with a focus on Print.
• Portfolio to substantiate. Illustration experiences a bonus
• Art, Graphic design, Relevant tertiary education e.g., product design or relevant work, relevant computer courses experience
• Computer Software Skills

• Experience in Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop
• Interpretations and illustrations using the relevant software
• Excel formulas, data extraction and formatting
• Microsoft Office proficiency with Word and Excel
• Creative problem solving and adaptability
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment and be results and deadline driven
• Determine trends
• Good understanding of color science and combinations
• Interpret other artist’s design
• Detail-oriented, demonstrate excellent business writing skills, both written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multitask and manage different projects simultaneously
