About the Role
Our client, Telebest, is seeking a Planning Specialist to join their team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning transport activities cost effectively daily to meet agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). This role requires strong analytical skills, experience with planning tools, and a deep understanding of logistics and transportation.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning transport activities cost effectively daily to meet agreed KPIs and SLAs.
- Working together with the operations team and senior planners to be aware of daily operational variables which may influence future route scheduling.
- Updating and interpreting hard and soft constraints on delivery sites and fleet.
- Building optimal shipments from the movement requirements.
- Deciding what to complete with dedicated vs ad-hoc capacity.
- Producing accurate and cost-effective plans based on database parameters and certain manual intervention for dedicated fleet.
- Securing capacity for ad-hoc demand.
- Building relationships with transport service providers and their operational staff who book vehicles.
- On-time and accurate publishing of route schedules per delivery type.
- Continuous improvement of planning function and reporting.
- Continuous monitoring of actual vs. planned performance through all functions to quickly respond to changes in the system.
- Crisis management and providing formal feedback on changes to plan and execution.
- Continuous improvement of Transport plans taking changing operational dynamics into account.
- Assist to manage the end-to-end customer service process.
- Working together with the operations team to be aware of daily operational variables which may influence future route scheduling.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in logistics.
- 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in using planning tools.
- FMCG and retail experience would be advantageous.
- Understanding of transport and its different cost elements.
- Understanding of total operational costs and cost drivers.
- Code B or EB drivers license.
- Flexible work hours.
