Job Description
About the Role
As our Security Manager, you are Mama’s protector – the calm in the chaos, the eyes that see everything, and the leader who keeps our playground safe while the magic happens. You create an environment where guests, residents, and teams feel completely at ease. You balance vigilance with vibe. You protect without disrupting. You lead with confidence, clarity, and a cool head — ensuring Mama remains a safe, secure, and welcoming space for all.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the safety of Mama — people, property, and assets.
- Create a secure environment where everyone feels protected while the energy stays vibrant and welcoming.
- Lead and inspire the outsourced security team — supervisors, controllers, and officers.
- Train, coach, and upskill your team on security procedures, surveillance systems, incident reporting, and first aid — all aligned with Accor standards.
- Develop and lead all emergency response plans — fire, evacuation, and external threats.
- Continuously assess risks across the property and implement smart, proactive solutions to eliminate or minimize them.
- Oversee all CCTV, access control, and security systems — ensuring they are fully operational, effective, and future-ready.
- Ensure full compliance with South African legislation (OHS, criminal law, fire safety, POPI, etc.) and maintain all SOPs and LSOPs.
- Own and manage all Fire Life & Safety systems. Lead drills, training, and readiness to ensure a safe environment at all times.
- Handle investigations related to incidents, loss, or theft with professionalism, fairness, and attention to detail.
- Build strong relationships with local authorities and external partners. Be the trusted point of contact for all security-related matters.
- Drive a strong safety culture across the property. Lead Health & Safety Committee initiatives and support Mama’s sustainability commitments.
- Work closely with People & Culture, Operations, and Building Management to ensure seamless, safe, and efficient operations across all spaces.
Requirements
- Solid experience in security leadership within hospitality or complex environments.
- At least 5 years’ experience in security or facilities security management.
- Understanding of South African legislation (OHS, criminal law, fire safety, etc.) inside out.
- Experience managing outsourced security providers and knowledge of how to get the best out of them.
- Calm under pressure and thriving in high-stakes situations.
- Strong leadership skills who commands respect while building trust.
- Ability to balance strict security with exceptional guest experience effortlessly.
Qualifications
- Certifications like SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, Fire Safety, or First Aid.
- Definite Pre-opening or lifestyle hospitality experience.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and always one step ahead.
- Structure, discipline, and a steady presence — with just the right touch of Mama energy.
