Senior Electrical Engineer Solar & Renewable Energy Inpower (Intelligent Power Solutions) | Part of the Faircape Group Inpower (Intelligent Power Solutions), a specialist division of the Faircape Group, delivers advanced solar and renewable energy solutions to sectional title schemes, commercial, and industrial clients across Cape Town and the surrounding areas. We specialise in solar PV systems, battery energy storage, power optimisation, and intelligent energy management helping clients achieve energy resilience, efficiency, and long-term sustainability. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping, delivering, and optimising high-quality renewable energy projects. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced engineer who wants ownership, technical influence, and the opportunity to work on meaningful, future-focused energy solutions. About the Role As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will take responsibility for technical excellence, system performance, and engineering best practice across renewable energy projects. You will work closely with clients, internal teams, and contractors from early design and feasibility through to installation, commissioning, and performance optimisation. This role suits an engineer who enjoys problem-solving, client engagement, and seeing projects through end-to-end , while contributing to the ongoing growth and refinement of our technical standards and processes. What We Offer Above-market salaries , aligned to experience, expertise, and value delivered Quarterly performance bonuses , rewarding consistent results Long-service leave , recognising loyalty and long-term contribution Onsite barista with free, barista-made coffee Subsidised vending machine snacks Discounted Faircape ISP packages Structured flexi-time (06:30 18:30) to support work-life balance A stable, professional environment within a well-established group Collaboration with experienced engineering, technology, and operational teams Key Responsibilities Engineering & Technical Leadership Lead the design, optimisation, and implementation of solar PV and battery energy storage systems Perform advanced system simulations using tools such as Helioscope and PVSyst Conduct site investigations to assess electrical constraints, system requirements, and feasibility Ensure installations meet performance, quality, and compliance standards Provide senior-level technical guidance, troubleshooting, and problem resolution Project Delivery & Operations Manage end-to-end project delivery , from concept through commissioning Oversee installations, quality control, safety compliance, and contractor coordination Identify and implement process improvements , contributing to internal best practice Respond to and manage technical escalations and emergency situations Client Engagement & Commercial Support Engage with clients to understand requirements and propose tailored energy solutions Conduct site assessments and attend client meetings, providing senior technical insight Lead the preparation of technical proposals, performance reports, and energy audits Assess backup and UPS requirements, proposing robust, reliable power solutions Qualifications: BSc, B.Eng, B.Tech qualification in Electrical Engineering Experience and Knowledge: Proven experience in the solar and renewable energy sector , with exposure to commercial and industrial projects . Demonstrated project management experience, with the ability to lead projects from design through to implementation and commissioning. Solid understanding of system design, operational performance, and key commercial and business drivers impacting project viability. Experience with electrical system design, simulation, and project execution within renewable energy environments. Strong technical expertise in backup power systems, UPS, and solar installations. Experience engaging with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. Good at adhering to strict safety guidelines and safety risks Proficient in fault-finding and troubleshooting , with the ability to resolve technical and operational issues efficiently. Sound knowledge and practical application of relevant electrical and renewable energy compliance requirements. Understanding of system design, operation, and key commercial and business drivers. Skills and Attributes: Proactive, solutions-driven problem solver, able to anticipate challenges and implement effective technical solutions. High level of accountability and ownership, with a hands-on approach to project delivery. Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence, negotiate, and manage expectations. Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with renewable energy technologies and industry trends. Resilient and self-directed, able to manage competing priorities, tight deadlines, and pressure environments. High level of professionalism, adaptability, and ethical conduct. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Specific Requirements: Solid and positive written references Clear health record Clear credit record No criminal record Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle Normal working hours are Mondays to Fridays from 08h00 until 17h00 with a 45 minute lunch break. The company allows employees, by approval of the direct manager, to work flexi-time between 06h30 and 18h30. We offer above market salaries, the amount offered will be dependent on qualifications, experience and other market-related factors.
