About the Role
Faircape is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Inpower (Intelligent Power Solutions) division, delivering advanced solar and renewable energy solutions to clients across Cape Town and surrounding areas. As a pivotal member of our team, you will play a hands-on leadership role in shaping, delivering, and optimising high-quality renewable energy projects. You will work closely with clients, internal teams, and contractors from early design and feasibility through to installation, commissioning, and performance optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, optimisation, and implementation of solar PV and battery energy storage systems
- Perform advanced system simulations using tools such as Helioscope and PVSyst
- Conduct site investigations to assess electrical constraints, system requirements, and feasibility
- Ensure installations meet performance, quality, and compliance standards
- Provide senior-level technical guidance, troubleshooting, and problem resolution
- Manage end-to-end project delivery, from concept through commissioning
- Oversee installations, quality control, safety compliance, and contractor coordination
- Identify and implement process improvements, contributing to internal best practice
- Respond to and manage technical escalations and emergency situations
Requirements
- Proven experience in the solar and renewable energy sector, with exposure to commercial and industrial projects
- Demonstrated project management experience, with the ability to lead projects from design through to implementation and commissioning
- Solid understanding of system design, operational performance, and key commercial and business drivers impacting project viability
- Experience with electrical system design, simulation, and project execution within renewable energy environments
- Strong technical expertise in backup power systems, UPS, and solar installations
- Experience engaging with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery
Qualifications
- BSc, B.Eng, B.Tech qualification in Electrical Engineering
