About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Sprinkler Design Engineer to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa. As a mechanical engineer with a strong background in designing fire protection and detection systems, you will be responsible for developing comprehensive fire protection systems that meet quality standards, ISO Standards, and engineering regulations. Your excellent communication skills in both English and Afrikaans will enable you to effectively work with engineers and present designs to stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive fire protection systems, focusing on specialized risk categories to detect, alarm, contain, and extinguish fires.
- Work with engineers and other departments to ensure all designs are compliant with relevant standards and regulations.
- Design and develop fire protection systems, including fire sprinkler and suppression systems, as well as detection layouts.
- Create detailed fire detection drawings, piping layouts, and wiring diagrams to ensure seamless integration with control panels.
- Conduct flow and pressure calculations, estimate material requirements, and manage projects from start to finish, including on-site inspections and stakeholder communication.
Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- Strong experience in designing fire protection and detection systems
- Minimum 3 years relevant working experience
- Proficiency in flow and pressure calculations, as well as creating 3D models using AutoCAD 2D/3D, Inventor, and other relevant design software
