About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Chef to lead the kitchen of an exciting new restaurant concept launching in Cape Town. The ideal candidate will take full ownership of the kitchen, from menu design and sourcing to team leadership and kitchen systems, with a deep passion for mentorship, training, and developing junior chefs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement menus that showcase global flavours, seasonal ingredients, and contemporary presentation
- Lead and manage a high-performing kitchen team, providing guidance and support to ensure exceptional culinary standards
- Source and procure high-quality ingredients, managing supplier relationships and controlling waste
- Implement and maintain effective kitchen operations, including food costing and quality assurance
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and learning-driven kitchen culture that promotes internal growth and development
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years experience in a Head or Executive Chef position in an upmarket, high-volume kitchen
- Ability to mentor and train junior kitchen staff to elevate skill levels, maintain consistency, and promote internal growth
- Extensive understanding of global flavours, seasonal ingredients, and contemporary presentation
- Strong financial acumen (costing, wastage control, supplier management)
- Hands-on, energetic, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of food costing, kitchen operations, and quality assurance
