About the Role
We are seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to join our team in Cape Town. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and environmental management across our facilities. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in BRCGS Packaging Materials and SEDEX certification to drive business growth and excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain BRCGS Packaging Materials and SEDEX certification.
- Audit and report on BRC compliance at other facilities, including JHB, Busmark, Range Road, and others.
- Oversee laboratory operations.
- Ensure consistent product quality.
- Handle customer complaints and non-conformances.
- Manage document control processes.
- Stay updated on food laws and regulations, ensuring facility and product compliance.
- Provide actionable solutions to complex quality and food safety issues using advanced technical knowledge and extensive experience.
- Participate in regular meetings with the Production Management Team to discuss quality and sanitation improvements, set goals, and establish project timelines.
- Coordinate product trials with production and NPD, and document results.
- Conduct hygiene/housekeeping, GMP, sanitation, and safety inspections; plan and arrange environmental monitoring, calibration, and pest control.
- Handle the Health and Safety budget, including preparing and managing expenditures.
- Draft, implement, document, maintain, monitor, and measure the health, safety, and environmental management system.
- Examine ways to improve health and safety standards and review/update safety plans, policies, procedures, and company manuals.
- Perform Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain health and safety standards in compliance with legal matters, advise on SHE issues, and liaise with statutory/auditing bodies.
Requirements
- Relevant degree from an accredited institution.
- Comprehensive knowledge of BRC standards and procedures, with verifiable proof of experience and achievements.
- Proficiency in Syspro, maintenance, and quality assurance.
- Certified training in HACCP and internal auditing.
- Thorough understanding of quality assurance methodologies and standards.
- Extensive knowledge of safety management systems and regulatory requirements.
