About the Role
Hire Resolve, a premier residential graduate institute for mathematical sciences, is seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator to manage and optimize their physical and virtual infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our IT systems, providing technical support to staff, and implementing new technologies to improve our infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair server and networking hardware/software; manage ZFS storage and backups.
- Design and implement networking solutions including VPNs, VLANs, and wireless access points.
- Deploy and maintain KVM virtual machines and LXC/LXD containers; utilize configuration management tools.
- Manage Google Workspace (Users, Groups, Drive, Sites).
- Provide Tier 1 support for lecturers and staff regarding networking and server software.
- Maintain comprehensive records of network architecture, server configurations, and software deployments.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Linux (Debian or Ubuntu preferred).
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and OpenVPN.
- CompTIA Network+ certification or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience with Radius/Eduroam, VXLAN, and NFS.
- Familiarity with Apache, LDAP, Samba, and CUPS.
- Proficiency in Shell or Python scripting for automation.
