Durban: Operations Manager

Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Oversee all scaffolding operations across multiple sites Plan, coordinate, and manage the erection, inspection, modification, and dismantling of scaffolding structures Ensure full compliance with Occupational Health & Safety regulations and company safety standards Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments Manage operational budgets, cost control, and resource allocation Develop project timelines and ensure deadlines are met Supervise and manage site supervisors, foremen, and scaffolding teams Ensure all scaffolding structures meet engineering specifications and safety requirements Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders Manage equipment, fleet, stock control, and maintenance schedules Oversee incident investigations and implement corrective actions Ensure quality control and adherence to industry best practices Prepare operational reports for senior management Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the operations division. Minimum Requirements: Minimum 810 years experience in the scaffolding or construction industry At least 5 years experience in a senior management or supervisory role within scaffolding operations Proven experience managing large-scale scaffolding projects Strong knowledge of industrial, commercial, and residential scaffolding systems In-depth understanding of construction site safety standards and compliance. Required Qualifications & Certifications: Matric (Grade 12) Essential National Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field Advantageous Scaffold Inspector Certification Scaffold Erector Certification Valid SAMTRAC / NEBOSH / NOSA Safety Certification Working at Heights Certification Valid First Aid Certificate Valid Drivers License (Code B or higher). Key Competencies: Strong leadership and team management skills Excellent planning and organisational ability High attention to detail and safety compliance Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Financial acumen and budget management capability Excellent communication and client relationship management skills Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Strong knowledge of scaffolding materials, load calculations, and structural stability Computer literacy (MS Office, project management systems). Additional Requirements: Ability to work extended hours when required Physically fit and medically cleared to operate on construction sites Clear criminal record.
