About the Role

Dis-Chem Pharmacies require a reputable Pharmacist for their Springfield store, providing pharmaceutical care to patients and being accountable for meeting their medicine-related needs. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for evaluating patient needs, dispensing medication, and ensuring accurate prescriptions are signed off.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provision of pharmaceutical care by taking responsibility for patients’ medicine-related needs
  • Evaluation of a patient’s medicine-related needs by determining the indication, safety, and effectiveness of therapy
  • Dispensing of any medicine or scheduled substance on the prescription of an authorized person
  • Signing off and checking of all prescriptions prepared by an assistant or intern
  • Furnishing of information and advice to any person regarding the use of medicine
  • Determining patient compliance with therapy and follow-up to ensure that patients’ needs are met
  • Provision of pharmacist-initiated therapy
  • Compounding, manipulation, preparation, or packaging of any medicine or scheduled substance
  • Manufacturing of any medicine or supervised manufacturing thereof
  • Purchasing, acquiring, importing, keeping, possessing, using, releasing, storage, packaging, re-packaging, supplying, or selling of any medicine or supervised activity
  • Application for the registration of a medicine in accordance with the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act

Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric BPharm / equivalent qualification
  • Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
  • Minimum 2-3 years experience in pharmaceuticals
  • 2-3 years retail pharmacy experience (student/intern)
  • Computer literate MS Office
  • Advantageous: relevant retail/FMCG experience, third additional language, SAP experience, E-scripting experience, Registered tutor, Unisolv experience

Qualifications

  • Formal education/certifications (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.)
