About the Role
A leading manufacturing business in the metals industry is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join their finance team. This role requires someone who understands that in manufacturing, every unit produced, every yield percentage, and every stock movement matters. The successful candidate will operate at the intersection of finance and production, ensuring accurate costing, disciplined inventory control, and reliable reporting to support operational decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and manage production orders in Syspro
- Ensure accuracy of inventory quantities and coordinate stock counts
- Perform inventory reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Calculate product costs and analyse manufacturing variances
- Prepare and review cost reports for management
- Monitor and manage production yields to improve efficiency and reduce waste
- Maintain strong inventory controls to support reliable financial reporting
- Identify costing anomalies and recommend process improvements
- Support operational planning through accurate cost data
Requirements
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or plant-based environment is essential
- Strong cost accounting experience, including variance analysis
- Solid understanding of manufacturing cost structures
- Exposure to Bill of Materials (BOM) systems advantageous
- Strong knowledge of yield management and inventory control
- Syspro experience preferred
- Excellent numerical ability and strong attention to detail
- Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently
- Passion for manufacturing and continuous improvement
