About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Debtors Controller to manage and control a large, high-volume debtors book within our food/FMCG supplier environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate, reconciled, and well-managed ageing of debtors accounts, as well as proactively following up on outstanding payments to meet collection targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and control a large, high-volume debtors book
- Ensure debtors accounts are accurate, reconciled, and ageing is well managed
- Proactively follow up on outstanding payments to meet collection targets
- Investigate, resolve, and close out pricing, claims, rebates, deductions, and other account queries
- Allocate payments accurately and timeously
- Liaise closely with sales, supply chain, and finance teams to resolve issues impacting payment
- Maintain strong working relationships with key retail customers and buying groups
- Prepare and distribute regular debtors and ageing reports to management
- Ensure compliance with company credit policies and procedures
Requirements
- Proven experience managing a large, busy debtors book
- Previous experience within the food, retail, or FMCG supplier environment (essential)
- Experience dealing with major retail chains and buying groups (highly advantageous)
Qualifications
- Relevant financial or accounting qualification (advantageous but not essential)
