About the Role
A well-established company within the production and manufacturing sector is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join their finance team based in Hartebeespoortdam. This opportunity is ideal for a candidate looking to gain broad exposure across financial accounting, payroll, statutory compliance, and operational finance within a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture and process financial transactions accurately
- Maintain the general ledger, including journals, accruals, and prepayments
- Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations
- Assist with monthly management accounts and variance analysis
- Support month-end and year-end financial close processes
- Maintain accurate financial records in line with internal controls and audit requirements
- Process salaries, wages, overtime, and statutory deductions
- Prepare payroll reconciliations and monthly reports
- Assist with PAYE, UIF, and SDL submissions
- Handle payroll-related queries while maintaining confidentiality
- Assist with VAT calculations and submissions
- Support SARS compliance processes and deadlines
- Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for statutory submissions
- Perform ad hoc finance and administrative duties as required
Requirements
- BCom Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong understanding of accounting principles
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- 02 years accounting experience (internships welcome)
- Exposure to Sage, Pastel, Xero, or similar accounting software
- Basic understanding of SARS processes and submissions
- Exposure to a production or manufacturing environment will be advantageous
