Job Summary

The Housekeeping Manager at Birkenhead House oversees the full Housekeeping operation for this exceptional boutique hotel. They work successfully within the budgeted guidelines and manage the team fairly and consistently, to ensure that the guests` expectations are exceeded, and that the company achieves its purpose which is “To give our guests a complete experience and a perfect stay” . MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Control and manage the inventory and consumables of the department Manage and develop the employees within the department. Ensure that guests` satisfaction is exceeded and any guests` needs are met. Ensure rooms are cleaned, maintained and set up in accordance with the company standards. Ensure all chemicals that are used and stored are safe and used correctly. Ensure that all linen is rotated and handled properly. Communicate thoroughly with the team members as well as other departments and HOD’s Ensure in room charges are done correctly and recorded accurately. Ensure that there are sufficient staff rostered according to occupancy and work load Ensure staff within the department are able to recite and live the company`s Purpose & Values. Create feasible SOPs and ensure they are adhered to by all staff members REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS Tertiary qualification in Hospitality Management is a distinct advantage At least 5 years` experience in an Executive Housekeeper, or Housekeeping Manager position in a luxury, 5 star hotel Computer literate in Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams Strong leadership and motivation skills Basic knowledge of the application of SA labour laws, disciplinaries and hearings Knowledge of chemicals, equipment and inventory control Highly proficient in spoken and written English, and conversational Xhosa It is important that the candidate is able to work as part of a team and is a good cultural fit for The Royal Portfolio. South African citizenship is advantageous. A valid work permit is essential if you are not in possession of a South African ID document. Please note it is a condition of employment, that all staff undergo a pre-employment polygraph test.
