About the Role

African Echoes Recruitment is seeking an experienced and dynamic Lodge Manager to oversee all aspects of lodge operations at a Big 5 Game Lodge in Hoedspruit. The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a passion for hospitality, capable of delivering exceptional guest experiences while managing daily operations efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily lodge operations and ensure smooth running of all departments
  • Deliver and maintain exceptional guest experiences
  • Manage and lead all lodge staff, including training and performance management
  • Control budgets, costs, and operational expenses
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and lodge standards
  • Handle guest queries and resolve complaints professionally
  • Coordinate between departments to ensure seamless operations
  • Drive service excellence and maintain lodge standards

Requirements

  • RSA ID and legal residence essential
  • Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management or related field
  • 5 years in a senior management role in a lodge or luxury hospitality setting
  • Sound knowledge of all lodge departments (F&B, Housekeeping, Front Office, Maintenance, etc.)
  • Financial acumen, including budgeting and cost control
  • Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent guest service and communication skills
  • Computer literate (MS Office, PMS & POS systems)
  • Familiarity with lodge management systems (e.g. ResRequest, Semper, PANstrat)
  • Fluent in English (Afrikaans or other local language an advantage)
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to work flexible shifts and live on-site
