About the Role
A hospitality group based in Bryanston, Johannesburg is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Financial Accountant to manage and oversee all financial accounting, reporting, compliance, and internal controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Perform month-end processes including journals, accruals, and reconciliations
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and financial integrity
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions
- Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow
- Verify and analyse revenue streams across departments (rooms, F&B, events)
- Monitor cost of sales, stock movements, and support stock takes
- Prepare VAT calculations and ensure regulatory compliance
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
- Liaise with auditors and support audit requirements
- Ensure strong internal controls and adherence to financial policies
- Maintain data integrity across financial and operational systems
Requirements
- RSA ID and legal residence essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional qualification or studying toward SAIPA, SAICA, or ACCA (advantage)
- Minimum 2–4 years accounting experience (hospitality experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and IFRS
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, reconciliations)
- Experience with accounting systems (Pastel, Sage) and hospitality systems (Opera, Micros, GAAP, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
