About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Child and Youth Care Worker to join our team at the Tongaat Youth Development Centre. As a key member of our care team, you will play a vital role in supporting the well-being and development of our young people. Key Responsibilities
- Monitor the behaviour and activities of youth
- Serve as a positive role model
- Conduct and participate in basic life skills teaching
- Provide youth assistance with homework/schoolwork
- Assist in the developing and implementation of individual treatment plans and IDPs
- Teach social skills to youth as per ITP
- Prepare for admissions and discharges of youth
- Complete required program documentation
- Complete reports as required
- Assist nurse with administering medications, etc.
- Conduct security/safety checks
- Participate in meetings and in-service training as required
- Transport youth as necessary
- Work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays
Requirements
- Minimum Grade 12 Child and Youth Care qualification (NQF 5)
- Registration with SACSSP with proof of current membership
- Code 10 Drivers License
- Knowledge of the Children’s Act and justice system (advantageous)
