Job Description

Are you a qualified or nearly qualified actuary looking to shape the future of actuarial audit support? This is a rare opportunity to join a newly established team and play a pivotal role in building a dynamic actuarial function from the ground up. Key Responsibilities: Provide actuarial audit support across a portfolio of clients in the insurance (life and general), retirement funding, and medical scheme sectors Review technical provisions, IAS 19 liabilities, and IFRS 17 liabilities, including drafting of audit reports Participate in IFRS 17 engagements, including transition assessments and policy impact analysis Conduct actuarial modelling and valuation work for liabilities, due diligence, reinsurance, capital optimisation, and dashboards Assess actuarial functions and assist clients in enhancing risk management processes, including model reviews and operating structure improvements Perform research, data collection, and analysis to produce actionable recommendations Engage professionally with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and suppliers Support operational activities related to the establishment of the actuarial business unit Contribute to business development through proposal writing and thought leadership initiatives Job Experience and Skills Required: Qualified or nearly qualified actuary Experience in audit support across insurance, retirement funds, or medical schemes Strong knowledge of IFRS 17, IAS 19, ISA 540, SAM, and reserving methodologies Familiarity with actuarial tools and platforms (e.g., Prophet, SQL, Python, SAS, Power BI) Excellent communication and business writing skills Entrepreneurial mindset with attention to detail and a drive for excellence. Job Description

Our client is a fast-growing advisory and audit firm, that is establishing a dedicated actuarial team to support its Audit division. This is not a traditional corporate actuarial role its a highly entrepreneurial environment where youll be involved in designing solutions, delivering actuarial audit support, and expanding actuarial services to the market. Youll gain exposure to IFRS 17, SAM, IAS 19, capital optimisation, model reviews, and actuarial audit work across life, non-life, retirement and medical schemes. Key Responsibilities: Provide actuarial audit support across life, general insurance, retirement funds and medical schemes. Review and assess technical reserves, IFRS 17 calculations, IAS 19 valuations, and audit reports. Build, review and enhance actuarial models used for valuations, capital, reserving, reinsurance and due diligence. Support IFRS 17 transition projects and assist clients with understanding policy decisions and financial impact. Contribute to actuarial function reviews, model validations, process enhancements and risk management improvements. Participate in business development, proposal writing, research, and establishing actuarial processes within the firm. Job Experience and Skills Required: Nearly or newly qualified Actuary (Fellow or close to qualification). Minimum 25 years actuarial experience, ideally within audit, consulting, or insurance (life or non-life). Experience in audit support, valuations, SAM, reserving, IFRS 17, IAS 19 or related actuarial functions. Strong technical skills Prophet, SQL, Python, SAS, Power BI, or similar tools advantageous. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to engage with clients and senior stakeholders. Entrepreneurial, proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple complex tasks.
