About the Role
We are seeking a motivated student Actuary to join our team in Johannesburg, where they will have the opportunity to deepen their technical actuarial expertise within life insurance. The ideal candidate will be exposed to complex actuarial modelling, reporting processes, and strategic actuarial initiatives within a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of IFRS 17 valuation results
- Support calculations relating to Contractual Service Margin (CSM), Best Estimate Liabilities (BEL), and risk adjustment
- Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual IFRS 17 reporting processes
- Perform reconciliations between IFRS 4 and IFRS 17 results
- Support SAM regulatory capital calculations and reporting
- Assist with Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) processes
- Contribute to stress testing and scenario analysis
- Analyse experience variances, including mortality, lapse, and expense investigations
- Provide actuarial input into financial reporting, planning, and forecasting
- Support embedded value (EV) and economic capital calculations
Requirements
- Education: Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field
- Minimum 6 actuarial exams completed
- Experience Required: Exposure to life insurance actuarial functions advantageous
- Understanding of life insurance actuarial principles
- Exposure to IFRS 17 and/or SAM frameworks beneficial
- Experience working with actuarial models and data analysis advantageous
- Knowledge of valuations, reserving, or capital management processes advantageous
- Exposure to financial reporting within insurance environments beneficial
