About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant VAT and Tax Accountant to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with tax regulations, managing VAT returns, and collaborating with internal teams to optimize tax efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with compliance across all tax types (including checking Income Tax Assessments, drafting objections to SARS, and managing Provisional tax returns)
- Compiling and reconciling monthly input and output VAT reports ensuring meticulous accuracy before submission
- Accurately and timeously complete and submit VAT returns, related payments, and ensure monthly accounting entries are flawless
- Handling all enquiries from the South African Revenue Service (SARS) efficiently
- Engaging with internal teams to facilitate effective VAT risk management and overall tax efficiency
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years tax experience
- Experienced working in complex structures
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with recurring tax deadlines
- Team collaboration skills
- Strong numerical accuracy
