About the Role
TORS GROUP is seeking a committed Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Officer to manage compliance across our construction and infrastructure projects in South Africa. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment, promoting a strong safety culture, and maintaining regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement HSE policies, procedures and emergency plans in line with OHSA, NEMA and local regulations.
- Conduct site inspections, risk assessments and safety audits; address hazards and ensure corrective actions.
- Provide HSE inductions, training and toolbox talks for staff and contractors.
- Monitor safety compliance, PPE use and environmental protection measures.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses and accidents; prepare reports and preventive measures.
- Maintain HSE records, reports and documentation for authorities and management.
- Liaise with clients, contractors and regulators; promote a strong safety culture.
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Safety Management or related field;
- SAMTRAC / NEBOSH essential;
- Valid SACPCMP registration as CHSO (mandatory);
- Valid work authorization in South Africa;
- Minimum 23 years HSE experience in SA construction / infrastructure;
- Knowledge of OHSA, NEMA, risk assessments, JSA and safety systems.
- Fluent in English; Afrikaans or local languages an advantage.
