Our client in the Manufacturing Sector is currently looking to employ an experienced Electrical Technician to join their dynamic team in Port Elizabeth.

Requirements:

  • Matric (Grade 12) essential.
  • National Diploma in Electronic, Electrical, Automotive, or Information Technology (NQF 6) essential.
  • Trade Test advantageous
  • Minimum 23 years experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic systems, PLC fault-finding, and machine maintenance.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards and manufacturing compliance requirements.
  • Computer literate (MS Office, maintenance systems)

Responsibilities:

Technical Support and Maintenance Control

  • Perform reactive, planned, and preventative maintenance activities
  • Conduct fault diagnosis and repairs on manufacturing equipment
  • Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and breakdowns
  • Ensure all maintenance job cards are completed and closed accurately
  • Provide electrical engineering and technical support aligned to production requirements
  • Maintain machine process capabilities and equipment reliability
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and program PLCs and robotic systems
  • Ensure maintenance schedules are executed according to plan
  • Provide technical support across the factory as required
  • Ensure compliance with process manuals, maintenance manuals, and operating instructions

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Operate within company procedures and maintenance controls
  • Identify and report risks, breakdown trends, and areas of concern
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulations, and engineering standards
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
  • Support cost-effective maintenance practices and minimise waste

Customer and Production Support

  • Maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and production teams
  • Provide technical support to minimise production downtime
  • Resolve maintenance and operational issues efficiently
  • Ensure high service delivery standards and minimal equipment comebacks

Cost Control and Continuous Improvement

  • Promote efficient use of maintenance resources and equipment
  • Control maintenance-related expenditure within budget guidelines
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance department
