About the Role
The successful candidate will be required to perform a range of tasks in an industrial painting capacity, working on various projects in the Eastern Suburbs of Johannesburg.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform surface preparation using abrasive blasting, mechanical tools, or chemical cleaning methods
- Apply industrial coatings such as epoxy, polyurethane, fireproofing, and anti-corrosion systems
- Ensure correct coating thickness (DFT) and uniform application
- Read and interpret technical data sheets, method statements, and coating specifications
- Mix coatings in accordance with manufacturer and project requirements
- Conduct pre- and post-inspection of surfaces and coatings
- Identify defects (runs, sags, pinholes, blistering) and carry out repairs
- Maintain painting and blasting equipment in safe working conditions
Requirements
- Grade 12
- Valid Spray painter certificate
- 2-3 years experience as industrial painter within the Oil industry
