Job Description

Specific Additional Experience: Ability to deal with ambiguity, complexity, challenging stakeholders, and tight deadlines Statement of Work: End-to-end delivery of projects. To plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of enterprise-wide projects to ensure that project goals are accomplished and to develop project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans, and allocation of available resources, in line with the business strategy. The Project Manager will also monitor and report on project and deliverable progress, run agile ceremonies, and provide mentorship and coaching on agile best practices. The Project Manager will also ensure the team is working on the right tasks at the right time, working closely with the product manager to translate epics, stories, and other items on the sprint list into actionable tasks for the delivery team Ensure client needs are accurately captured in scope and that the change management process is led and supported together with the client Managed project priorities effectively and ensured dependencies were catered for according to the project scope Manage delivery of large and complex projects according to prevailing project management methodology. That business change impact is conducted across processes, systems, and technology in accordance with the change management plan Provide expert-level guidance to the software project team in terms of process, system, tools, methods, as well as communication, integration, and successful team dynamics through weekly facilitation sessions. Manage the scope of work, budget, timeframes, and quality of deliverables Identify project stakeholders, communicate their roles, define their level of participation in the project, and map their communication needs and stakeholder engagement strategies throughout the project plan. Be able to structure and lead multidisciplinary and multi-level stakeholder engagements with the ability to synthesize and communicate in a non-technical language Ensure each stakeholder group is actively managed through the change cycle. Engage and facilitate with multiple diverse groups across a spectrum of wants and needs. Build professional relationships through engagement and regular communication and feedback with all stakeholders, using quality metrics and project status reports as drivers Ensure satisfactory post implementation review and perform retrospectives/inspect and adapt sessions as required Ensure roles and strategies are defined, and behaviors and operations are understood, optimal resource allocation, and enable a high-performing environment Ensure optimal risk management strategies are in place and that project budgets are managed within project scope Consider processes, business, technology, and people to implement changes Ensure traceability of defined benefits throughout the lifecycle of the project and escalate any deviations Ensure adherence to PMO minimum standards Adhere to and contribute to PMO standards: Produce agreed artefacts according to PMO minimum standards, including: Sizing, Scoping, Costing, Baseline Project Plans, Risk Management, Quality Plan, Communication Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of the minimum standards and suggest necessary changes to PMO if necessary Internal and external stakeholder relationship management: Build and maintain effective relationships with all key stakeholders to facilitate organizational effectiveness Identify areas of concern in terms of reporting and use influence to debate and agree on the best way forward Act speedily to resolve problems, queries, and complaints Use influence and negotiation to achieve win-win outcomes Initiate meetings with key stakeholders to track progress, manage expectations, and ensure clients needs are met Proactively communicate and share information and encourage discussion and debate (share successes, highlight challenges, and identify and manage risks) Read the cultural environment and adapt communication style to meet the needs of different audiences Anticipate and manage conflict, demonstrating an ability to resolve differences, particularly where these may be stalling the implementation of agreed plans

Job Description

About the Role

The Project Manager plays a critical part in upholding Eskom’s governance, regulatory, and compliance requirements while leading multidisciplinary teams and engaging key stakeholders. This role is responsible for driving the successful delivery of Eskom projects from concept to close-out, ensuring they are executed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource plans in line with Eskom project management frameworks.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle from initiation through to commissioning and close-out.
  • Define project scope, deliverables, milestones, and success criteria.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required technical and quality standards.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders including Engineering, Finance, Procurement, SHEQ, Operations, and Maintenance teams.
  • Manage external contractors, consultants, and suppliers in accordance with Eskom procurement and contract management procedures.
  • Facilitate regular project meetings, progress reviews, and technical workshops.
  • Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders and escalate issues when required.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Ensure compliance with Eskom policies, governance, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NERSA, OHSA).
  • Enforce SHEQ standards across all project activities.
  • Monitor project costs, cash flow, and forecasts.
  • Approve and track variations, claims, and payments.
  • Prepare accurate project reports, dashboards, and performance metrics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) advantageous.
  • Minimum of 58 years project management experience, preferably within: Power generation, transmission, or distribution. Large infrastructure or capital projects. Utilities, energy, or heavy engineering environments.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead our Programme Governance & Delivery team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and managing the overall programme plan, integrating all project schedules and milestones, and ensuring strategic alignment with organisational transformation goals.

Requirements

  • 10 years in project or programme delivery
  • 5 years in multi-stream digital projects
  • Financial development experience advantageous

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, or Business; MBA or Honours preferred
  • PMP or PRINCE2 Practitioner; AgilePM or PMI-ACP; ITIL 4; Lean Six Sigma; COBIT or King IV governance awareness

About the Role

We are seeking a seasoned Project Manager to join our Delivery team in Johannesburg’s Sandton area. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the pre-project lifecycle and take ownership of customer delivery projects. Your expertise will be crucial in driving success across virtual teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all data preparation and collection for projects, including all project documentation.
  • Apply project management methodologies in the development and execution of project plans, schedules, budgets, control points, risk assessments, monitoring, resource allocation, and status reporting.
  • Manage day-to-day project scope, including meetings, status coordination, schedules, project plans, and financials.
  • Foster a strong strategic image of company capability.
  • Inform management of deviations from schedule, scope, or budget, with recommendations to bring projects back on track.
  • Multi-task across multiple project activities and concurrent projects.
  • Actively participate in customer meetings with Sales and Operational teams.
  • Participate in solution design, testing, and training activities.
  • Identify resource requirements and assign project responsibilities accordingly.
  • Comply with solution delivery and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Protect company and customer information assets to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders including sales, operations, systems engineering, service providers, product development teams, and other cross-functional groups.

Requirements

Minimum of 7 years experience in project management. Relevant tertiary qualification is essential. Professional certification (PMP, PMI) is required. Working knowledge of MS Project is required. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Willingness to travel nationally and/or internationally. Experience within the utility industry is advantageous. Exposure to software projects and international project environments is highly desirable.

About the Role

The Project Manager will lead and coordinate the execution of our company’s ICT Landscape Assessment and Digital Strategy Development project, ensuring delivery of all Phase 1 and Phase 2 activities that align with our 7th Term Strategy, transformation agenda, and compliance with relevant ICT governance frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a detailed project plan, schedule, and reporting framework.
  • Ensure compliance with company governance structures and ICT policy frameworks.
  • Track milestones, deliverables, and dependencies across both phases.
  • Oversee comprehensive review of ICT architecture, infrastructure, applications, governance, and staffing for Phase 1: ICT Landscape Assessment.
  • Coordinate benchmarking against COBIT, ITIL, TOGAF, ISO 38500, ISO 27001, Government ICT Policy Framework, and Public Sector CGICTF.
  • Manage gap analysis, risk identification, and opportunities for modernization.
  • Ensure delivery of inception report, situational analysis, diagnostic report, and final assessment report.
  • Facilitate articulation of ICT Vision, Mission, Guiding Principles, and Strategic Themes for Phase 2: Strategy Design & Implementation Planning.
  • Oversee design of future-state ICT architecture, integration pathways, and enabling technologies.
  • Develop phased implementation roadmap, costed investment plan, and monitoring framework.
  • Ensure delivery of draft and final ICT Digital Strategy, Business Continuity Plan, and knowledge transfer outputs.
  • Facilitate structured consultations and workshops with ICT, Manco, Executive Management, and business units for stakeholder engagement.
  • Present findings and recommendations to governance committees and senior leadership.
  • Manage communication and change management activities to ensure adoption.
  • Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks.
  • Ensure quality assurance of all deliverables.
  • Align project outputs with best practice standards and company’s strategic outcomes.

Requirements

  • Strong project management expertise (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
  • Deep knowledge of ICT governance frameworks (COBIT, ITIL, TOGAF, ISO standards).
  • Experience in ICT strategy development, digital transformation, and enterprise architecture.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and presentation abilities.
