Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly organized and experienced Senior Operator Northbound to join our operations team. This role is pivotal in managing and coordinating the end-to-end operational activities of vessels and cargo moving on the Northbound trade lane (typically referring to cargo moving from southern to northern regions, e.g., from the Mediterranean or Asia to Northern Europe or the U.S.). The ideal candidate will ensure efficient vessel operations, timely cargo delivery, and compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Possess extensive experience in import operations (containerised and Bulk cargo) with a thorough understanding of customs clearance and import procedures, and the ability to supervise processes at the port.
• Oversee all aspects of import operations, closely coordinating with shipping agents, shipowners, terminals, depots, and transport providers to ensure seamless execution of business activities.
• Understand vehicle allocation logic for imported goods and the specific requirements for different types of imported goods (e.g. project cargo, chemicals), while effectively coordinating with warehouses for loading operations.
• Coordinate the entire cross border transportation process, including en-route customs clearance and the preparation and review of related documents.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in shipping operations, ideally with direct experience in Northbound or similar trade lanes

• In-depth knowledge of vessel operations, cargo handling, and port logistics

• Familiarity with international shipping regulations (IMO, SOLAS, ISPS, etc.)

• Strong proficiency in shipping software systems and Microsoft Office tools

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities

• Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus)
