Job Description
About the Role
The Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for recording and maintaining the daily financial data of the business, including the trial balance and general ledger of the business. This includes maintenance of the fixed asset register, control accounts and bank reconciliations, as well as the VAT and provisional tax computation and submission after review by the CFO.
Key Responsibilities
- Recording and maintaining daily financial data
- Maintaining the trial balance and general ledger
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register
- Control accounts and bank reconciliations
- VAT and provisional tax computation and submission
- Ensuring control accounts and sub-ledgers balance
- Raising necessary provisions and accruals
- Financial transaction recording using Syspro 8
- Reconciliation of control accounts to subledgers using DataRapt in Syspro 8
- VAT calculation and submission
- Provisional tax computation
- Maintenance of the fixed asset register
- Compliance with IFRS for SMEs
- Ensuring timely completion of financial audit
- Daily treasury management and cash forecasting
- Financial forecasting and budgeting
- Monthly and quarterly financial reporting
- Petty cash management
- Stock valuation oversight and accounting for stock obsolescence
- Rolling of monthly and annual financial periods in Syspro 8
- Accounting for accruals and provisions to ensure transactions are recorded in the correct period
- Tracking performance against budget
- Assist with budget compilation
- Import and allocation of payroll journals
Requirements
- B Com (Accounting) or equivalent qualification
- 5 years of experience in a related role
Qualifications
- SYSPRO experience would be highly advantageous
