About the Role
Network Finance is seeking a highly experienced and proactive Accounts Payable Team Leader to join their finance team in Weltevredenpark, Johannesburg West. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the accounts payable function, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and strong vendor relationships while driving continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigating, recommending, maintaining, and enhancing accounts payable systems, processes, and procedures
- Managing your own and the team’s vendor accounts and relationships, including vendor account reconciliations and ensuring that payments are made in line with agreed terms and conditions
- Leading and managing team engagement, performance, and development
- Monitoring internal compliance and resolving internal and external queries effectively
- Managing electronic invoicing, scanning, and OCR processes
- Overseeing GRIR and transport-related accounts to ensure that all goods and services received are properly invoice-verified
- Assisting with one-time vendors and utility accounts when the Assistant AP Manager is not available
- Compiling monthly team KPI reports and updating AAPM schedules, reports, and dashboards
- Monitoring current processes and facilitating system optimisation to drive continuous improvement
- Standing in for the Assistant Accounts Payable Manager when required
- Negotiating revised vendor terms and conditions where necessary
Requirements
- Grade 12 with Mathematics and Accounting
- A Financial Diploma or Certificate
- A minimum of 6 years’ experience in an accounts payable environment
- Supervisory experience with the full creditors function (advantageous)
- Strong SAP knowledge (FI, MM, and SD) and proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Experience with OCR scanning and automatic reconciliation (e.g. BEST systems)
- Proven analytical, problem-solving, coaching, and mentoring skills
