About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Workshop Assistant to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our workshop, you will be responsible for performing daily inspection tasks and assisting with basic maintenance and repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily Inspection Tasks:
- Inspect trailers for visible damage
- Check tryres, wheel nuts, and wheel nut indicators
- Check lights and electrical connections
- Inspect air hoses and brake lines for leaks
- Check landing legs and locks
- Basic Maintenance Tasks:
- Grease trailer components (kingpin, landing legs, suspension)
- Replace lights and bulbs
- Tighten loose bolts and fittings
- Replace air hoses or electrical suzie lines
- Brake System Assistance:
- Assist with brake pad or brake shoe replacements
- Inspect brake chambers and slack adjusters
- Check air leaks in brake system
- Tyre and Wheel WORK:
- Remove and fit trailer wheels
- Assist with tyre replacement
- Check wheel bearings (under supervision)
- Structural and Body WORK:
- Fit reflectors and safety markings
- Workshop Duties:
- Clean and maintain tools and work area
- Assist qualified mechanics with repairs
- Report faults during inspections
