About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our luxury private game reserve in the Northern Cape, where you will support the Head Chef in delivering exceptional dining experiences and maintaining high kitchen standards in a unique bush environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations
• Prepare and present high-quality meals in line with lodge standards
• Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation
• Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards at all times
• Oversee stock control, ordering, and minimise wastage
• Assist with menu planning and creative input for new dishes
• Supervise and support junior kitchen staff
• Ensure all dietary requirements are catered for professionally and accurately
• Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment
Requirements
• Formal culinary qualification
• Previous experience as a Sous Chef within a luxury lodge, safari camp, or high-end hospitality environment
• Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
• Ability to work well under pressure in a remote bush environment
• Excellent organisational and time management skills
• Strong leadership and team support skills
