About the Role

Placement Point is seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to join our team in Kempton Park. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting, as well as providing expert financial analysis and guidance to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate monthly trial balances and management accounts for review
  • Perform detailed variance analysis and provide meaningful commentary to management
  • Ensure the integrity of all balance sheet accounts through regular reconciliations
  • Maintain compliance with IFRS and relevant statutory requirements
  • Ensure all monthend and reporting deadlines are met in accordance with the approved reporting timetable
  • Coordinate and oversee the monthend close process, including debtors, creditors, bank reconciliations, inventory and GRNI, fixed assets (capitalisation and depreciation), general ledger, and submit completed trial balances and supporting schedules to the Financial Manager for review within agreed timelines
  • Provide daytoday work coordination, technical guidance and review support to Bookkeeper & Accounts Payable Credit Controller / Debtors
  • Review work output for accuracy, completeness and compliance
  • Support the Financial Manager in developing finance staff capabilities through mentoring, coaching and process improvement
  • Assist the Financial Manager with performance feedback, training needs and workload planning
  • Oversee the daytoday functioning of the Reception and Business Support / Customer Services role
  • Ensure that Sales Return Order (SRO) requests from customers are handled timeously and customers stay informed throughout the process till finalized
  • Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts
  • Prepare monthly actualversusbudget analysis
  • Support cost control and expense management initiatives
  • Provide financial analysis to support business decisions
  • Prepare accurate weekly cash flow forecasts
  • Monitor working capital (debtors, creditors, inventory)
  • Prepare payment batches and supporting documentation for approval
  • Assist with debtor finance submissions and bank reporting requirements
  • Liaise with banks and stakeholders as required under Financial Manager direction
  • Resolve audit queries and implement agreed audit recommendations
  • Assist with drafting, maintaining and enforcing financial policies and procedures
  • Support internal control design and process documentation
  • Ensure adherence to approved authority limits and governance standards

Requirements

  • Formal schooling / degree: BCom Accounting or equivalent
  • Professional registration – PA(SA) with SAIPA, CIMA, AGA or similar
  • Post articles commerce experience in a manufacturing or consumer goods business environment would be advantageous
  • Proven track record of implementing and improving systems of internal control and financial accounting
