About the Role We are looking for a hands-on, accountable, and commercially minded Retail Store Manager to take full ownership of store performance. This role requires someone who can lead people effectively, think on their feet, and run the store as if it were their own business. You will be responsible for driving sales, managing risk, building a strong customer base, and growing brand presence in your local market. Key Responsibilities Store Performance & Sales Achieve and exceed monthly and annual sales targets Drive turnover growth and increase average basket size Monitor and improve key retail metrics (conversion rate, foot traffic, units per transaction) People Management Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing team Set clear expectations and hold staff accountable to performance standards Manage staff scheduling in line with trading demands Foster a positive, disciplined, and results-driven team culture Operational Excellence Ensure the store is fully compliant with company policies and procedures Maintain high standards of visual merchandising and store presentation Oversee stock control, shrinkage prevention, and inventory accuracy Ensure smooth day-to-day operations aligned with trading hours Customer Experience & Growth Build and maintain a loyal and growing customer base Deliver exceptional customer service and resolve issues effectively Implement local marketing initiatives to increase foot traffic and brand awareness Act as a brand ambassador within the community Risk & Accountability Take full accountability for store performance, stock, cash handling, and compliance Identify risks proactively and implement practical solutions Manage losses, shrinkage, and operational risks within acceptable benchmarks Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Sales growth (%) vs target Gross profit margin Stock loss/shrinkage (%) Inventory accuracy (%) Staff turnover and productivity Customer satisfaction scores / repeat business Conversion rate and average transaction value Compliance audit scores Requirements Proven experience as a Retail Store Manager or similar role Strong leadership and people management skills High level of accountability and ownership mindset Ability to think quickly and solve problems effectively Commercial awareness and understanding of retail metrics Experience in stock control and risk management Strong communication and customer engagement skills What Were Looking For A self-starter who treats the business as their own Someone who leads from the front and drives results A practical problem-solver who performs well under pressure A leader who can grow both people and the business
