About the Role
A well-established cross-border tanker transport company in the fuel and hazardous goods sector is looking for a proactive and experienced Operations Coordinator to join their team in Kempton Park. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who thrives in a high-pressure, fast-paced logistics environment and is comfortable working beyond standard office hours when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and dispatch trips, manage trip documentation and driver briefings
- Prepare and manage loading instructions, export documents, and preclearance processes
- Monitor driver compliance and facilitate training at loading points
- Perform inspections including seal checks, signage, and truck cleanliness
- Close off trips and manage proof of delivery documentation
- Monitor fleet movements daily and report anomalies (unauthorised stops, diversions, etc.)
- Liaise with clients, workshop, banks, and other stakeholders
- Coordinate licensing, vehicle registrations, permit renewals, and SARS bond removals
- Investigate and report on incidents and accidents
- Optimise load capacity and toll/fuel budgeting
- Handle fines assessment and route planning
- Participate in operations meetings and WhatsApp groups
- Act as designated person for hazardous substances and other legal appointments
- Provide general IT and admin support where needed
Requirements
- Proven experience in transport operations, logistics coordination, or similar roles
- Solid understanding of cross-border fuel/dangerous goods transport regulations
- Strong administrative and communication skills
- Ability to work outside of standard hours when required
- Own reliable transport advantageous due to early start times
