About the Role
As an HR Officer in Umhlanga Rocks, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our business unit. You will work closely with employees and Front Line Managers to ensure adherence to minimum standards across the employee life cycle, from hire to retire. Your primary focus will be on providing exceptional support to our people, while also driving business outcomes through talent analysis, succession development, and retention initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with employees and FLMs to ensure adherence to minimum standards across the employee life cycle (hire to retire)
- Ensure accurate data to assist with talent analysis, succession development, and retention within own business unit
- Update talent review data as required
- Provide recruitment and onboarding support for people appointments within own business unit
- Administer employee engagement surveys and implement actions
- Support the exit of employees within own business unit
- Improve labour productivity by managing overtime, leave, allowances, and localisation/diversity initiatives
- Adhere to HR functional excellence and minimum standards
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, or policy requirements
- Resolve first-level HR queries relating to payroll, benefits, organisation structures, time and attendance, and policies
- Escalate queries to HR and Services Manager where required
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management
- Support L&D in identifying training needs for business units and individual coaching needs
- Implement and evaluate initiatives to support employee well-being
- Advise on employee misconduct/poor performance, ensuring best practice and compliance with relevant employment legislation
Requirements
- Degree in Business, HR, or Organisational Psychology (equivalent)
- 3-5 years of experience within HR in a similar role
- Demonstrable track record and skills/experience gained within a similar position(s), at a similar level
