About the Role

Farm Manager SA is seeking an experienced Livestock Farm Manager to join their team in Mpumalanga. As a seasoned professional, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the farm, including managing breeders flock and cattle breeding programs, developing financial strategies, and scaling teams. You will have experience working with commercial livestock and poultry operations, with a focus on multi-species capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage breeders flock (3,000+ birds operational now, scaling to 8,000+) and implement production protocols for optimal performance.
  • Develop and execute financial management strategies, including P&L understanding, unit economics, and budget control.
  • Scale teams from small base to 30+ people, ensuring effective communication and leadership.
  • Implement operational systems, including SOPs, KPI tracking, and abattoir and market relationships.

Requirements

  • Agricultural diploma/degree
  • Crop integration experience (maize, soya, sunflower)
  • Abattoir and market relationships
  • 3-10 years’ experience with commercial livestock & poultry operations
  • Breeder flock management experience (3,000+ birds operational now, scaling to 8,000+)
  • Cattle breeding programs (30-head herd, scaling to 120+ head)
  • Financial management: P&L understanding, unit economics, budget control
  • Startup mentality: comfortable with uncertainty, rapid iteration, zero-to-revenue challenges

Qualifications

  • Completed Agricultural degree or diploma from a recognized institution.
