About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Crop Advisor with expertise in plant nutrition to join our team in Paarl. As a key member of our sales and marketing team, you will be responsible for driving revenue growth and promoting our products to agencies and end-user customers across South Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Sell company’s products and services to agencies and end-user customers, achieving sales revenue and gross profit targets.
- Offer technical support to agents across different distribution agencies for a variety of crops.
- Provide comprehensive assistance to all agents distributing the company’s products, including guidance on product knowledge, usage instructions, and answers to any questions.
- Willingly assist and visit all agents and their direct clients, supporting the marketing efforts of the products.
- Engage and source prospective customers in the agriculture sector with exceptional customer service, while also nurturing strong relationships with existing clients through active engagement and tailored solution proposals during on-site visits.
- Develop and implement a strategic sales and marketing plan for the designated area, focusing on achieving current targets and promoting future growth, supported by analysis of sales data and market trends to adapt strategies accordingly.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge on product developments, crop management, and application techniques, ensuring the company’s brand and values are consistently promoted in the face of competitive market strategies.
- Collaborate effectively with the management team and colleagues, providing regular, detailed updates on sales activities and contributing to product training and marketing initiatives.
- Lead in research and demonstration trials to identify niche market opportunities, staying ahead of industry advancements and competitor movements.
- Assist in compiling technical information for stakeholders and undertake additional responsibilities as the job evolves, supporting the Managing Director and management as necessary.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in Plant, Soil, or Agricultural Sciences (will be advantageous)
- AVCASA and BASOS certificates (will be advantageous)
- Diploma, certificate, or courses in financial management, administration, or marketing (will strengthen the application)
- Minimum of 3 years of experience selling within a technical agricultural sector
- Demonstrate expertise and practical experience with crops, including maize, soybeans, sunflowers, potatoes, and peanuts (will be advantageous)
