Job Description

Job & Company Description: Our client is looking for a skilled Electrical Technician with a strong background in low‑current electrical engineering and automation. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, programming, commissioning, and optimising PLC‑based control systems, HMI interfaces, SCADA platforms, field devices, and electrical panels used in automated production equipment. The role requires strong problem‑solving skills, the ability to manage multiple technical tasks, and the capability to provide on‑site support during machine installations, upgrades, and breakdowns. Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering (Low Current) or equivalent Job Experience & Skills Required: 23 years experience in electrical/automation engineering within a manufacturing environment Technical Skills: Strong problem‑solving & fault‑finding abilities PLC programming & troubleshooting (Delta PLCs) using: WPLSoft ISPSoft PLC ladder logic development and modification Configuration of digital I/O, analogue cards (420mA, 010V), temperature modules, and signal scaling Master‑Slave communication setup using: Ethernet (Modbus TCP/IP) RS485 (Modbus RTU / ASCII) Integration with HMIs, VFDs, temperature controllers & field devices Delta HMI programming using DOPSoft: Real‑time visualisation Alarm screens Data entry & recipe screens Trend graphs SCADA development (Delta DiaView) LabView application development SQL server database development, ODBC integration PowerBI dashboard/report creation Calibration of loadcells, temperature controllers, etc. VFD setup (Delta & Yaskawa) Electrical panel design, wiring & interpretation of electrical drawings Energy metering systems, CT installation, LPU tariff structures, TOU billing SQL‑based energy monitoring & reporting Working knowledge of LV metering installations Basic mechanical fitting & tool usage Professional Attributes: Integrity, independence & accountability Strong decision‑making and project management ability Innovative, analytical thinker Good understanding of plant processes & automation systems Strong numerical and technical reasoning Software Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) Intermediate to Advanced Visual Basic for user forms (Excel / Access) Microsoft Outlook for documentation & data storage Key Responsibilities: PLC programming, modification, and troubleshooting Configuration and commissioning of PLC expansion modules Setup of industrial communication networks HMI design, development & commissioning SCADA development & data integration Panel wiring, electrical design & documentation updates Commissioning, fault finding & on‑site support Development of automation applications (LabView, SQL, PowerBI) Ensuring reliable operation of control systems and automation equipment Supporting continuous improvement across automation platforms Energy monitoring, reporting & metering system support Apply Now!
