About the Role
Hire Resolve is seeking a highly skilled Management Accountant to join their finance team in Pinetown. The successful candidate will play a critical role in cost management, inventory control, and providing timely and accurate financial data to support operational decision-making and month-end reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Record Management:
- Process accurate journal entries related to production, inventory, and cost of goods sold.
- Assist with month-end reporting procedures and deadlines.
- Costing and Inventory Control:
- Perform monthly reconciliation of inventory between the General Ledger (GL) and subledger, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Review and analyse variances (material, labour, overhead, purchase price, etc.) and ensure they reconcile to the GL.
- Verify Bill of Materials (BOM) recoveries for accurate cost allocation.
- Analyse non-conformance costs to identify root causes and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Calculate and prepare surplus stock provisions (specifically for composites and non-conforming stock in the SA region).
- Coordinate quarterly stock counts across national locations and report on variances.
- Process and Data Integrity:
- Review and approve new product code creation for the composites division to ensure accurate classification and costing setup.
- Review Goods Received Voucher (GRV) reports to identify errors and ensure timely corrections to inventory records.
- Standard Cost Model Optimization:
- Own the standard costing model, continuously reviewing and refining it for accuracy and predictive capability, including annual recalculation and roll-up of standard costs across all BOMs.
- Systems and Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process automation and ERP system integration, potentially leading implementation or upgrades of the manufacturing module.
Requirements
- Relevant BCom degree in Accounting or Management Accounting.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or chemical/process industry.
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Proactive approach with strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with costing, inventory control, and month-end reporting.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
