About the Role
Our Client in the IT Industry is seeking to employ a junior Data & Analytics Assistant (Excel Guru) based in Walmer Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will interpret complex financial and commission structures, ensuring accurate and timely commission payouts. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience with Microsoft Excel.
Key Responsibilities
- Import, clean, and validate commission data from internal systems and external providers.
- Calculate monthly commissions based on agreed commission structures.
- Apply adjustments, overrides, clawbacks, and special incentive rules.
- Ensure timely and accurate commission payouts.
- Maintain and update commission calculation models in Excel.
- Perform reconciliations between internal systems and source files.
- Identify discrepancies and resolve commission disputes.
- Analyze commission trends and provide insights to management.
- Prepare monthly commission statements for partners/sales teams.
- Generate management reports on commission expense and performance.
- Support finance with accrual calculations and forecasting.
- Maintain internal commission systems and documentation.
- Improve automation within Excel (formulas, Power Query, pivot tables, macros if required).
- Assist with testing and implementation of new commission systems.
- Develop standard operating procedures for commission processing.
- Ensure commission calculations comply with company policies and agreements.
- Maintain audit trails and supporting documentation.
- Assist with internal and external audits.
Requirements
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF formulas, data validation).
- Experience with Power Query or Power BI (advantageous).
- Experience using internal CRM, ERP, or commission management systems.
- Strong data reconciliation skills.
- Ability to interpret complex commission structures.
- Ability to handle confidential financial information.
- Experience in commission analysis, finance, or data analysis.
- Experience working with large data sets.
- Experience in financial services, telecoms, or partner-based environments (advantageous).
