About the Role

The Technical QA Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the quality of the ODIN Checkpoint web and mobile platform, working closely with product and development teams to validate features, verify fixes, and maintain a structured, scalable QA practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate feature specs, user stories, and tickets into comprehensive test scenarios covering happy paths, corner cases, negative cases, and regression impact across web and mobile.
  • Execute manual testing of features, bug fixes, and releases, validating outcomes against acceptance criteria and identifying defects, gaps, and regressions.
  • Build, maintain, and expand automated test suites (UI, API, regression, smoke) using modern frameworks, prioritizing automation of high-value and high-frequency test areas to maximize coverage and speed.
  • Validate behaviour across browsers, devices, app states, and network conditions, including offline transitions, sync reliability, role-based flows, and notification handling.
  • Log defects with clear reproduction steps, evidence, and severity, retesting fixes and confirming resolution quality before sign-off.
  • Execute structured regression, smoke, and sanity test cycles per release, identifying risk areas, validating critical workflows, and providing clear release readiness sign-off.
  • Drive QA maturity through reusable test packs, automation strategy, clear documentation, and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

  • Formal Tertiary education: Grade 12 Diploma or Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software testing, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3 to 6 years experience in software quality assurance, including practical exposure to both manual and automated testing.
  • Experience testing both web and mobile applications is essential.
  • Languages: English required.
  • Drivers Licence: Code 8- (minimum).
