About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer – Mechanical to join our team in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. As a Temporary Quality Engineer – Mechanical, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the motor vehicle components perform consistently to specification throughout their life cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Initiating and managing the Qualifying Program for new part introduction
  • Implementing continuous improvement by identifying root causes for part deviations from specification and correcting them across all phases of the part’s life cycle
  • Testing and evaluating the performance of parts according to specification
  • Providing required Technical Expertise for complete parts in respect of material and function
  • Initiating design improvements for complex problems on parts
  • Initiating local and CKD claims from suppliers

Requirements

  • National Diploma /Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience in the manufacturing environment
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable motor vehicle parts, their function, applicable specifications, part manufacturing processes, and testing methods
  • Sound technical knowledge of motor vehicle components and systems
  • Knowledge and application of Quality Tools (e.g. DOE, SPC, FMEA, 8D)
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and related specifications
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Computer literate (Ms Office)
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present to all levels within the company and externally (written and verbally)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Valid driver license
