About the Role
Datafin, a leading Retailer, is seeking an experienced Area Manager to oversee the efficient movement of goods, manage warehouse operations, and drive sales performance in their assigned region. This role combines operational leadership, sales management, and client relationship management to ensure seamless order fulfillment, compliance with health and safety standards, and consistent achievement of business growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of Sales Representatives, Telesales staff, and Order Clerks, ensuring achievement of sales targets and KPIs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key blue-chip clients through effective Key Account Management (KAM) strategies.
- Develop and manage sales agreements, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and business objectives.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand market share and strengthen the customer base.
- Oversee day-to-day cross-dock operations, ensuring accurate receiving, dispatch, and order processing.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
- Manage repairs, maintenance, and facility upkeep, including lease agreements and landlord liaison.
- Conduct regular stock counts, scale counts, and reconciliation to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Vehicle Maintenance Management: Ensure Vehicles are roadworthy at all times.
- Expense Management: manage and streamline day-to-day Expenses and keeping control of business associated costs.
- Plan and optimize delivery routes for couriers and local drivers to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Coordinate dispatch schedules to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor trip sheets, PODs, and driver performance to ensure operational excellence.
- Manage petty cash and administrative functions, including filing, scanning, and documentation control.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of receiving, dispatch, and reconciliations.
- Daily management and Safekeeping of PODs and capturing of PODS on Capisol System
- Produce regular operational and sales performance reports for senior management review.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to team members to build capability and engagement.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure alignment of team objectives with overall business strategy and customer requirements.
Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years experience in a cross-dock, warehouse, or distribution environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong understanding of sales management, key account management, and logistics operations.
- Knowledge of health and safety compliance, route planning, and facility management.
