About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Manager to join our team, responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and providing financial guidance to support business growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, excellent analytical skills, and proficiency in MS Excel and accounting systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, treasury, and inventory accounting.
- Assist with accurate and timely preparation of monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
- Monitor the company’s cash flow/liquidity needs and working capital.
- Enforce controls to prevent overstocking and obsolescence and monitor inventory shrinkage.
- Conduct quarterly branch visits to both Cape Town and Johannesburg for stock count verifications.
- Assist with preparation of annual budgets as well as monthly and quarterly forecasts aligned with sales targets/business growth.
- Monitor operational expenses to identify improvement opportunities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- CA (SA), ACCA, or CIMA preferred.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a finance role.
- Strong knowledge of South African financial regulations and tax compliance.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookups) and accounting systems.
