About the Role
HotelJobs is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant to support our Utilities Manager across multiple buildings in Dainfern. This role combines utilities monitoring, meter readings, tenant liaison, compliance tracking, and operational coordination. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a hands-on property environment and professionally representing landlord management when dealing with tenants.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct electricity and water meter readings across buildings
- Capture and populate consumption data accurately
- Assist in identifying irregular usage trends
- Support generator and backup system monitoring
- Assist with reporting to management
- Tenant Liaison:
- First point of contact for tenant utility-related queries
- Resolve electricity and water complaints
- Draft professional correspondence to tenants
- Communicate planned outages and maintenance schedules
- Escalate sensitive matters appropriately
- Facilities & Operations Support:
- Assist with planned maintenance scheduling
- Track breakdowns and response times
- Follow up on outstanding repairs
- Assist during emergency incidents (power failures, water leaks, etc.)
- Compliance & Administration:
- Track compliance certificates (electrical, service records, inspections)
- Assist during audits and inspections
- Interpret utility data and operational reports for management
- Ensure tasks are tracked and completed
Requirements
- Grade 12
- A formal qualification will be an advantage
- At least 3+ years experience in property, facilities, utilities, or building operations
- Proven experience taking electricity and water meter readings
- Basic understanding of commercial electricity and water systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Valid drivers license (essential)
- Must be willing to travel between properties
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.) are not required for this role.
