About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Camp / Lodge Manager to take ownership of the management and coordination of a busy, prestigious safari camp. The successful incumbent will be responsible for overseeing both guests and staff within a high-standard, high-expectation environment, requiring daily, frequent communication with senior management, and confident, visible guest interaction and management.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and co-ordinate the daily operations of the camp.
- Connect; unify and integrate all individual departments at each camp in order to deliver on the product defined by the company.
- Maintain a constantly open and effective communication channel with all staff.
- Communicate frequently and efficiently the tasks and responsibilities of all staff and heads of department.
- Communicate and offer feedback to upper management regarding daily operations, guest and staff issues, maintenance issues, and any on-going projects.
- Monitor the running, systems and controls of all departments.
- Constantly strive to improve the efficiency of all systems on the reserve using innovate new measures.
- Frequently conduct walk-arounds and spot-checks on all aspects of the operation and departments in order to ensure their efficient running.
- Punctually prepare all required administration.
- Assume the role of security for all staff and guests.
- Manage crises and emergencies e.g. fire and medical issues ensuring the safety of all people on the reserve and the brand is protected.
- Manage and co-ordinate disciplinary action of all staff when required.
- Ensure all staff are guest oriented.
- Ensure training of staff is conducted and recorded as per the SOPs of the reserve.
- Ensure all staff attend any training workshops as per requirements.
- Enforce accurate time-keeping, appropriate, professional and clean presentation of all staff at all times.
- Ensure all staff are well informed and familiar with the modus operandi of the camp, the company and encourage a knowledge of world happenings and current affairs.
- Manage any staff queries and issues effectively in a professional, problem-solving manner.
- Manage and oversee the work conduct and ethics of all staff, taking corrective action where necessary and informing upper management.
- Constantly inspire, encourage and motivate all staff to improve guests experience.
- Ensure all guests experience a personalized experience that either meets or exceeds their expectations.

Qualifications
- Tourism & Hospitality and/or Hospitality Management qualification.
- Matric / Grade 12 certificate.
- First Aid level 1.
- Valid drivers licence and PrDP.
- Computer literacy level: MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, internet and stock control systems.
Salary & Benefits
- CTC remuneration of approx. R28,000.00 per annum (negotiable).
- DOE and qualifications.
- Gratuities either directly from guests / share in split gratuities equally among staff, excluding guides.
- Accommodation provided.
- Utilities including water, electricity, Wi-Fi.
- 3 meals per day.
- Uniform.
- Company medical aid and pension fund contribution*.
- Full Risk cover by the company (No cost to the employee): Lump sum Disability, Funeral & death benefit of 2x annual salary*.

- Visitors are allowed per cycle, at a cost.
- Staff gym facility at a nominal monthly fee.
- Staff shop selling basic groceries, alcohol etc.
- Staff TV room with a pool table.
- Any 13th cheque / bonuses etc. are based upon performance and at the discretion of the company. **Applicable after three months of successful employment.**
Work Cycle
- Work cycle: 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off.
