About the Role

Safari JOBS is recruiting for an experienced Head Ranger to step into a senior leadership role within a renowned, high-standard safari operation. This is an opportunity for a strong, steady leader who can take full ownership of the management, coordination, and supervision of the ranger teams across multiple camps, while protecting consistency, discipline, and excellence in every aspect of the field experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide guests on average no less than 70% of the average ranger, over the course of the year.
  • Ensure efficient and effective product delivery by all rangers as defined by the company.
  • Communicate daily with the General Manager regarding all guest and staff matters, daily operations, staff issues, vehicle issues, and any shared staff service requirements.
  • Foster a warm, welcoming, and relaxing atmosphere for all guests to maximise guest enjoyment.
  • Coordinate on-going training and unit standard maintenance of all rangers’ qualifications and certifications in conjunction with the HR Manager and GM.
  • Assist in any emergency in the field or at any of the camps.
  • Work with the Operations Manager on all ranger performance matters, safari policy implementation, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Clear criminal record
  • Excellent employment track record

  • Excellent English fluency & literacy
  • Computer literacy level: Use of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Internet
  • Matric / Grade 12 certificate
  • Min. 5 years Big 5 African Safari guiding experience
  • Min. 2 years of Assistant Head Ranger / Head Ranger experience is essential
  • FGASA NQF 4 (min.)
  • FGASA Trails Guide qualification (Lead with ARH)
  • First Aid level 2 (min.)
  • Unit Standards 117705, 119651 & 123519
  • NDT registered
  • Valid drivers licence and PrDP
