About the Role
The Lecturer in Building and Human Settlements Development position is a critical component of our Department’s academic and research endeavors. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, developing, facilitating, and administering knowledge acquisition among students, while contributing to the department’s teaching, research, and community engagement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Make a significant contribution to the learning and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students in the Department of Building and Human Settlement Development.
- Participate in and contribute to publishing research and innovation.
- Participate in undergraduate projects and postgraduate student supervision.
- Perform academic, community, and discipline engagements.
- Contribute to quality of programmes, programme reviews, and accreditation processes.
- Network with relevant professional bodies and associations.
- Respond to calls for presentations at conferences and other interested parties nationally and internationally.
Requirements
- In-depth understanding of Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Housing and Human Settlements Policy Development and Management theories and applications.
- Ability to facilitate learning at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Strong people management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (applicants will be required to present a short lecture to evaluate their communication skills).
- Possession of a relevant Master’s qualification from a recognised institution.
- A minimum of two (2) years relevant academic and/or professional experience.
- Substantive undergraduate grounding in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Housing and Human Settlements Development Policy and Management.
