Duties & Responsibilities
Technical Drawing and Design:
- Create accurate 2D drawings and 3D models using Solid Edge.
- Prepare manufacturing, fabrication and shop drawings in line with project requirements.
- Generate DXF flat patterns for laser cutting processes.
- Assist with the design and development of new equipment and systems.
- Update and revise drawings in accordance with project changes and design developments.
Project and Production Support:
- Compile and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for projects.
- Work closely with engineers and workshop teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable and cost-effective.
- Support the project team by ensuring drawings are issued timeously and accurately.
- Assist with the interpretation of client requirements and translate them into workable design solutions.
Site Measurements and As-Built Drawings:
- Conduct site measurements when required.
- Develop accurate as-built models and drawings based on site conditions and project changes.
- Travel to sites as needed to gather information and verify dimensions.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement:
- Liaise with engineers, workshop personnel and other relevant stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Identify drawing discrepancies and assist in resolving design-related issues.
- Contribute to improving drafting standards, design accuracy and workflow efficiencies.
Experience & Qualification
- National Senior Certificate (Matric).
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Draughting or a related field.
- Proficiency in Solid Edge is essential.
- Experience in producing 2D drawings, 3D models, manufacturing drawings and shop drawings.
- Experience in compiling Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Ability to generate DXF flat patterns for laser cutting.
- Experience in taking site measurements and producing accurate as-built drawings.
- Fluent in Afrikaans and English.
- Valid driver’s licence (Code B).
- Own reliable transport.
- Willing and able to travel to sites for measurements when required.
- Experience in the structural steel, mechanical, fabrication or food & beverage industries will be advantageous.
