About the Role
Nelson Mandela University is seeking an nGAP Lecturer in Physics with specialisation in Radiation Physics and Medical Physics to develop academic and strategic leadership capacity within the Department of Physics, specifically in the fields of Radiation and Medical Physics. The successful candidate will support the development and implementation of a new Honours programme in Medical Physics, planned for launch in 2028.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform academic duties while progressively developing the capacity to lead, coordinate, and manage programmes in Radiation and Medical Physics.
- Provide intellectual and strategic leadership in the design, development, and implementation of a professionally aligned Medical Physics Honours programme that meets national accreditation and industry standards.
- Contribute meaningfully to teaching, research, postgraduate supervision, and curriculum transformation within a strategically expanding Department of Physics, with a view to long-term programme sustainability and growth.
Requirements
- An MSc in either Radiation Physics or Medical Physics.
- nGap minimum requirement is a 70% for Masters, as well as strong potential and commitment toenroll for a PhD, or already in possession of a PhD, in one of these fields.
- Demonstrated expertise/experience in a Radiation Physics/Medical physics.
- Evidence of tertiary teaching experience or strong potential for university teaching.
- Research record or clear potential to develop a sustainable research profile.
