About the Role

Hire Resolve is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join a driven and leading Investment company in Namibia. The position reports to the Financial Manager and will have a finance team reporting to him/her. This Senior Accountant role is responsible for the financial reporting & governance of companies operating within the fishing and tourism industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage their department to report on time.
  • Review GL reconciliation, Cash Books, Debtors, Creditors, Fixed Asset Registers, Stock etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Trial Balances are appropriately finalized on time and properly reviewed before submission to the Financial Manager.
  • Prepare the first draft of management accounts for submission to the Financial Manager.
  • Take responsibility to ensure the companies are audit ready at year end.
  • Perform business administration which includes all financial linked operational administration for each of the companies assigned to him/her.
  • Maintain the contracts register and ensure all secretarial documentation and alternations are kept up to date and instructions executed effectively.
  • Understand the operations and how it impacts their assigned companies and be able to respond appropriately.
  • Monitor and ensure good corporate governance for all companies assigned to him/her, including but not limited to:
  • Review of monthly VAT tracking reports.
  • Compliance with all Ministry related submissions and payments.

Requirements

  • At least 3 to 5 years experience as an Accountant or equivalent articles experience.
  • BCom degree + articles / NIPA registration or equivalent required.
  • Fishing Industry specific experience will be to your advantage.
  • Good communication skills written and oral (English & Afrikaans will be an added benefit).
  • Must be computer literate (Excel, Pastel Evolution, or similar ERP system).
  • Ability to prioritize their own and their teams work with excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to drive themselves and their team to report on strict deadlines and keep at team accountable towards their deadlines.
  • Sound knowledge of direct and indirect tax compliance.

Salary & Benefits

Negotiable – depends on candidate experience and education. Maximum Salary up to R700 000/per year
