About the Role

Communicate Finance is seeking a highly skilled Internal Auditor to join their team. As an Internal Auditor, you will conduct operational audits across multiple sites, reviewing processes such as cash handling, stock control, food safety, asset management, and service delivery. You will also perform corporate audits covering finance, HR, payroll, procurement, and compliance. Your primary objective is to evaluate internal controls, recommend improvements to mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks, and ensure adherence to company policies, SOPs, and relevant South African regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct operational audits across multiple sites
  • Review processes such as cash handling, stock control, food safety, asset management, and service delivery
  • Perform corporate audits covering finance, HR, payroll, procurement, and compliance
  • Evaluate internal controls and recommend improvements to mitigate financial, operational, and compliance risks
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, SOPs, and relevant South African regulations
  • Analyse business performance data and validate the accuracy of financial and operational reporting
  • Compile and present clear audit reports with actionable insights and recommendations
  • Follow up on audit findings to ensure corrective actions are implemented effectively
  • Assist in developing risk management frameworks and annual audit plans
  • Support investigations into irregularities, fraud, and policy breaches
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in internal auditing, ideally within FMCG, retail, or a similar fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, risk management, and audit methodologies
  • Solid knowledge of South African legislation (Companies Act, VAT Act, Labour Laws, etc.)
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret and present complex data in a clear, actionable manner
  • Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement ability

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g. CIA, CISA) or completed articles will be advantageous.
